Guardianship

Life does not always run smoothly, and there are times when an individual has to step in and take control of the situation, especially when minors are involved. We counsel individuals’ seeking to establish a guardianship to protect the wellbeing and interests of a loved one that is a minor. A guardianship may be necessary or appropriate when:

  • Minor children have one or both parents die
  • Minor children have parents that are incapable of taking care of them, whether due to substance abuse, physical abuse or mental instability

We assist clients in navigating the system and preparing the necessary documentation, and we advocate for the client in any hearings or proceedings. Guardianship proceedings can be charged with emotion, often pitting family members against each other. We are attentive to the difficulties and provide compassionate leadership through the process.
